I enjoyed the film because I think it's interesting how you can learn so much from something preserved in the Earth for thousands of years. I also appreciate how I learned that when you are an archaeologist even the smallest remains or pieces of something can be important to unearthing the secret past of that location. My favorite part was seeing how the shapes, sizes, and patterns of the pottery can tell you so much about the region (who lived there, how advanced their civilization was, and the past events that happened there). The film first aired back in February 2010, only 6 years ago, but technology has already greatly increased since then. With the new technology it makes finding and documenting artifacts easier, although many archaeologists will argue that doing things by hand may take longer but is much more accurate. I personally agree that although it takes longer, doing most things by hand with the assist of technology tends to be more accurate than doing it all with technology. The film taught me some things I did not know, like that the Indians that lived here thousands of years before us had a fairly advanced way of living, including a legislature in place and a 12 month calendar like the one we use today. Yes, I would recommend the film to another student if they are interested in archaeology or a little bit of Georgia history because it is a well made film.

I have a lot of questions about what happened to the people who live in the cabin for the black people? I want to know how to find artifacts for all of our history. I love the film so I what to know what happened to the Indian people who live near the rivers? A lot of good facts in the film. I really like it a lot.

The Indians were pushed out of their lands by the early settlers

I found the short film very interesting. It gives us lots of great facts on What the Europeans thought, who were the Indians, and how such a small artifact can have a massive impact on what we know. I believe our current technology can have a massive positive affect on how fast and how easily we can retrieve the artifacts. I have also have lots more respect for archaeologists because their job is so labor intensive. My favorite part of the movie was listening to the main archaeologists rock band. I Believe that technology is probably better than hand because it offers a more efficient way to gather them, clean the artifacts, and document them. The film taught me many things such as that Indians built massive huts under ground and what the Europeans knew about Georgia Indians. Yes I would recommend this film because it holds lots of great information on georgias archeology.

I think that it is cool that we can find pottery from the slaves just bye digging. I also thing it's funny that they see a one thousand year pottery piece they just say " oh cool " I WOULD GO CRAZY IF I FOUND ONE.

I thought the film was extremely interesting; it gave us a new insight into the Native Amerivans that could have lived right under our feet. It's cool to see how a small peice of clay can show us things about a culture that existed thousands of years ago. It shows us so much information about a hidden culture that is very important to Georgia. It was interesting to see that several cultures lived and worked at the same place, but at different times. With the technology from 6 years ago, they could see houses overlapping each other. With technology from today, they could probably see even more that will show history about civilizations over 10,000 years old. The most interesting part for me was learning that cultures that made pottery probably lived in one place (meaning they didn't move around) for a very long time. Archeologists know this because the heavy pottery would have been too difficult to carry if you were moving all the time. It is amazing that they can tell so much from a broken piece of a pot!

I think this film was truly interesting. It gave us a new look on how Native Americans lived right where we are now! It is amazing how the smallest piece of pottery can help explain our past. It was also very interesting to see that you could tell that houses from different eras and cultures over lapped and were built on top of each other. This film, that first aired back in 2010, had limited technology ( but it was still really cool ) but now, 6 years later , I think that our technology can make a positive impact on archeology today what help them uncover the past. Also with our technology today we can find ancient mounds, like the ones in the film, and tombs that show more of the past then ever before!

I think that this video is very interesting. In the beginning I like how it shows the difference between what certain people think archaeology is versus what it actually is. I like how they show the old walls/buildings from the past because there's lots of history telling us about how people lived a long time ago. The pieces of clay and the things on them are very interesting, we can see different writings and drawings on them that have a lot to do with the people of the past. The federal government using archaeology to make jobs during the depression was a very good idea, plus it helped us find so many artifacts that uncovered so much info about the people who lived here a very long time ago. Using technology is probably much easier because it allows us to where to find things that could be important. I would definitely recommend this video to anyone who is interested in archaeology and life in the past

I thought this film was really interesting because it gaves a new perspective of how the Indians/Native Americans lived right here in Cummimg, GA and even other places in Georgia. Its fasinating on how pieces of clay we found in our backyards or any other place could show us about a culture from the past. Those pieces lf clay shows us really important info. about some cultures scientist havent discovered yet or some hidden cultures. This video was can out in 2010 (6 years ago) and they didnt have advanced technology or had a limited supply of it. But from the technology we have today we can find many things like villages from ages ago or ancient mounds like shown on the video. I would recommend this to students who are have trouble with this subject. If they working on a this subject this would be a amazing video to get all you information from.

The film provided a very interesting look into to the past through artifacts and monuments that are still being discovered today. Some of the film's strengths were that it gave detailed historic evidence found by the archeology seen in the film and the discoveries made by the archeologists were still very important no matter how small the pieces were. The weaknesses, though there were few, included the jump from one archaeologic site to another and back again. Other than that, the film was very well put together and paced so anyone could follow. We were introduced and guided through the magnificent history and culture of the Native Americans that once lived in those areas. Almost all of the information that we have today has been found through artifacts such as pottery pieces and jewelry. If it weren't for archeologists, we wouldn't have the sense of their beautiful culture that we do today.

Archeologists are people who dedicate their lives to making unique and interesting discoveries that lead to another puzzle piece we can insert in the mystery of the Indians' lives. They don't go on the crazy adventures that Indian Jones does, but what they find takes the discoverers on an even more exciting journey into the past. Sure sitting and digging is hot, tiring work that to most people doesn't sound like an enjoyable job, the thrill of finding an artifact from hundreds to thousands of years ago absolutely makes up for the draining hours spent finding it. Some people might say that it's just an old piece of clay, but to the archeologists, it is another snapshot of the past, helping us weave our way through their sometimes confusing ways of life.

All in all, the video provides and interesting and beautiful view into the lives of those from many, many years ago. Anyone can be an archeologist; you never know who might have lived in your backyard!

The film really held my attention . It also showed what archeology really is and not like in movies. I also liked how they explained how they knew people lived in these parts of Georgia. It also told you about how people back then used to live. I would recommend this because it gives you a lot of information and it is very interesting.

I think this film was very interesting. I like how we find stuff here in Georgia that dates back many years ago. I also like how the film showed people who enjoy doing this and how they let kids and adults volunteer to help discover the artifacts that are buried beneath the soil. The film was very good at teaching you and entertaining you. This shows that the movies are not like the actual process that it takes in real life.

I thought that it was a very interesting movie. It really held my attention throughout the whole thing. There were many strengths in the movie such as showing how archeologist work in a dig site, and explaining how the artifacts they find help us to figure out what has happened throughout history and learn the way of life of the people who lived here before us.It showed me that archeology is not at all like how they portray it in movies. It is much more time consuming and takes very hard work. Its is amazing to me how such a small piece of something that was their trash could tell us so much about the past.

I thought the movie was very interesting. I particularly enjoyed the part when the archaeologist explained how they knew that an advanced native american culture used to live in the area we now refer to as Macon. The writers accurately portrayed how archaeology works in the real world and not on the Hollywood movies. Its really hard work that takes years to decades to discover ,and carrying a whip on an actual dig site would just make you look silly.

I think that its amazing how people have the desire to go out in hot and cold weather and dig for years to just find a little piece of the past. I admire the kid and adult volunteers who just want to help and be apart of finding out where we came from, how we got here, and what is here today that we haven't seen. When they find pieces of artifacts from prehistoric times it blew my mind how he knew where to look just by an prehistoric artifact. Towards the end of the video i was intrigued by the idea that Georgia was linked to africa and how there are STILL african rocks deep beneath the ground. Over all I enjoyed the video and how people today put their time and effort in to something that may take years to find and how one artifact can tell years of time.

This film really held my attention a lot more than I thought it would. I liked this movie because it showed me how different archaeologists are than what you would usually think of. They find historical items while still recording their data as they try to preserve what they do find. They find pottery, architectural lines and many more. If they had done the film many years ago, they wouldn't have had as much technology to find out all they know and it would have taken them much longer to make this video.

This film definitely grabbed my attention and pulled me in. I enjoyed it because of how much I was informed with new information on archaeologists. I especially liked how they explained about older pottery and newer pottery found. This film definitely have me a better grip on archaeologists, and amazes me that they spend there time digging for hours maybe, looking for fossils. I think the coolest thing about being an archaeologist is that your the first person to touch a fossil since whatever last touched it, maybe hundreds or maybe thousands of years ago. This did hold my intrest throughout it. A strength in the movie was when they explained how the artifacts help up find out what happened throughout history. I better understand the subject now that I've watched this and have a better outlook on the subject.

The film to me was a little unoriginal to me it seemed think it was reaping the same thing I have been hearing for many years of my life. Basically it talked about the advanced ways of the American Indians and how we found out about this through digging it up. Plus the beginning started off with a guy looking for slave cabins to the story of native Americans and how we found that. The archeological theme from the video did however show a small timeline through the Georgian history that they recovered. I thing I did like was how the archeologist highly underestimated the Native American culture. Many people to this day think the native Americas were basically cavemen, but the finds show that they were up to par with the English according to civilization and industry. Even though the video was basic it did have some good talking points.

I thought that the film was very interesting.
It thought me a lot about archeologists, such as that their job takes a lot of pacience and persistence, but in the end we get to find out about new people and cultures and the things that happened there before. Archeologists must find artifacts very carefully so that they do not break and sometimes in harsh weather unlike what many people think. It is fascinating to me that just one small piece of pottery can give us a huge amount of information on the past, I also really liked seeing how they compared different dig sights and made inferences and observations like how one of the archeologists had to think of possibilities of why those vertical racks were in the house. Also they get to see firsthand what the different people's lives were like and how they differ from other cultures and time periods. My favorite part was seeing how advanced some of the Indians were and the buildings and customs they had. This film was made 6 years ago and with the technology we have now it is unimaginable how much information we could get about the past of Georgia and how much we will be able to get in the future. I have now realized that it is important to know these things because it is a part of us and where we live and so that we know more about our past.

I think the video was very interesting and had a lot of good information. Although it has good information it is kind of confusing because it switches between dig sites and cultures so often, I think the should have spaces them out better and had better transitions. I also thought they describe the sites very well.
